Kicks on Route 66 Run

The run starts on Thursday night with meet and check-in at the LaQuinta South, Tulsa. Friday is the run on Route 66 NE to state line; Saturday is the run on Route 66 SW to Oklahoma City. We visit 25 towns on both days with lots of stops and sightseeing the Mother Road. Bean Runs, Treasure Hunt and pics from the day's run each night in the meeting room. Cyrus Avery Route 66 Centennial Plaza Dedication

(TULSA, Okla.) The mayor has scheduled a dedication of the Plaza for Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 10:00am. Parking is availbale on top of the hill; enter from Riverside Drive and Lawton.

Will Rogers-Wiley Post Fly-In Weekend

Each year on the anniversary of their death, pilots fly in at the Will Rogers Birthplace Ranch near Oologah to pay tribute to Will and Wiley and renew friendship with fellow pilots. This year, starting about 8:30 a.m. Aug. 17, pilots will drop down on the 2,000-foot grass strip adjacent to the house where Will was born. It will be an opportunity for pilots to showcase their planes and for children and adults to get an up-close look at planes. 29th Annual Bluegrass and Chili Festival

Held at the Claremore Expo Center in Claremore, Oklahoma, the weekend festivities will include FREE "pepper hot" concerts by national and regional artists. In addition to the free concerts, other musical entertainment highlights include The "Junior Showcase" presented by US Cellular, and "The Best Country In The City Vocalist Competition" presented by Wal-Mart. Route 66 Association of Missouri Motor Tour

The Route 66 Association of Missouri is ringing the dinner bell for cruisers to join in the Association's 19th Annual Motor Tour to be held September 5, 6 and 7, 2008. The Tour will commence in Collinsville, IL and end in Lebanon, MO. The Tour's theme this year focuses on the eateries on Route 66 in Missouri. This is most appropriate this year, as it is the 50th Anniversary of one of the Route's most famous food stops, Zeno's Steakhouse and Motel in Rolla, MO.
