Centennial Event Series Announced

One of the questions we get asked most about the upcoming Route 66 Centennial is, “What are you all doing to celebrate?” We are proud to announce a series of events to help highlight Route 66 across the state in 2026 that we hope our members, and others, will enjoy! We have reserved the dates for the events below and are working on the rest of the details.

Our first event of the year will be the Route 66 Big Band Hangar Dance on April 25, 2026 at the Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford. Join us for a night of dancing, a fly-in, and more!

July 25th will be a special bi-annual Route 66 Hall of Fame event honoring all of our past honorees and an induction of new honorees during this historic year. The ceremony will be held at the Route 66 Museum in Clinton and be followed by a dinner.

On September 26, 2026 we’ll have a Centennial Car Show & Cars Movie Screening at the Tee Pee Drive-In in Sapulpa. We'll be celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Disney-Pixar's Cars with special guests who inspired the film! We'll also have themed food and drinks and plenty of kids activities like face painting, balloon animals, and car-centric STEM activities.

Our next Centennial celebration of the year will be in Arcadia at the Round Barn for the Round Barn Round-Up Music & Art Festival. On October 17th, join us for great food, art, and music. There will be folk music lessons, shopping, live music, and a fiddle competition inspired by real-life fiddler Otto Funk, who walked Highway 66 while playing his fiddle in 1928.

As you may know, Route 66’s actual birthday is November 11th. Plans are still coming together on what we’d like to do to formally celebrate that momentous day. Stay tuned!

Members will have exclusive advance notice of our ticketed events, like the Big Band Hangar Dance. Money to organize these events is being raised in part by our Centennial Supporter Kit (challenge coin and pin) and we thank you all for your support. If you aren’t a member, please consider joining! We’ll also need volunteer support to ensure these celebrations meet the moment to kick off the next 100 years of Route 66!

We’ll also be out and about at other events throughout the Centennial - it’s gonna be a BIG year! Be sure to check our Event Calendar often for the latest updates.
