Tulsa Artist Mary Lee Weaver Featured at Circle Cinema in December

For the month of December, the Circle Cinema along Tulsa’s original alignment of Route 66 is presenting guest artist Mary Lee Weaver along with her watercolor artwork. The opening reception, which is free and open to the public, is Thursday, December 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The show, which runs through the end of the month, is on display in the main lobby area of the Circle and all of the artwork is available for sale.

Mary Lee is known for her images of historic buildings, including the Blue Dome in Tulsa, Allen’s Fillin’ Station in Commerce, and even the Circle Cinema itself. Other regional Route 66 icons created an traditional watercolor paintings include the churches in the Cathedral district of Tulsa in the snow for the Christmas eve service. She also has several abstract artworks inspired by her love of the Mother Road.

Mary Lee first picked up a paint brush at a women’s retreat more than two decades ago, but didn’t intententionally focus on developing her skills until about five years ago. She has had her work displayed at The Sky Gallery, The Liggett Studio, The Living Arts Studio, and the Masterwork Gallery.

“I am blessed and honored to be the guest artist at Circle Cinema,” Mary Lee said. “Never in my wildest imagination could I have envisioned this opportunity.” The show is titled, “Blessed,” because. “I have had so many terrific teachers and mentors along the way.”

Circle Cinema is located at 10 South Lewis in Tulsa and parking is available in the back of the building. In addition to the show, Mary Lee has created more than 100 greeting cards, which are available throughout northeast Oklahoma at locations like The Farm Hippie in Claremore, Gasoline Alley Classics in Sapulpa, and The Sky Gallery in Tulsa among others.
