Arcadia’s Pizza Shack Launches Storytelling Series on November 10

The Pizza Shack in Arcadia, Oklahoma will be hosting the inaugural Pizza Shack Arcadia Oklahoma Storytelling Series: Session One on Sunday, November 10 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the A Stage West in the Pizza Shack located at 210 East Highway 66 in Arcadia, Oklahoma. The Pizza Shack occupies part of the former Hillbillee’s Cafe complex just down the road from the famous Round Barn.

This first session will feature eight storytellers with compelling real-life stories of travel, Route 66, and journeys of the road. Arcadia’s square mile of the Mother Road sees scores of travelers, tourists, and road warriors daily from across the nation and the world.  This new storytelling series is designed to present a day to hear Oklahomans tell their stories of travels on the Mother Road and around the globe. Each story will be from seven to ten minutes from a variety of storytellers, including: 

·         Nick Waters; In-Character Storyteller from the Territory Tellers

·         Kliff Davis; Radio Talk Show Host and Personality

·         Madi Franklin; Viticulture & Enology Coordinator at Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry

·         Ace Greenwood (Chickasaw); Cultural Ambassador at the First Americans Museum

·         Derrick Ott; Art Lover, a Teller of Tales, and Cultivator of Creativity

·         Shelley Zumwalt; Retired Executive Director of the Oklahoma Department of Tourism and Recreation Department

·         Special Guest Storyteller to be announced

·         Pastor Allen Threatt and Edward Threatt; Threatt Filling Station on Route 66

 

Presentation of the event and introductions will be by Bob Protexter who writes stories, travels the world through baseball, and is the Head Pizzaiolo and Chief Pizza Officer at the Pizza Shack. Hostess for the event will be Yeliz Turkdil, University of Oklahoma Nursing Student and Miss Norman and finalist of the Miss Oklahoma USA pageant.

This event will be recorded by Dennis Spielman, a creative and enthusiastic storyteller who is a film producer, director, and cinematographer.  He is the author of the 16th Phoenix Universe Stories. Local cowboy Don Vallier will also be there with several equine partners.

The event is free to attend for people of all ages.
