Route 66 Documentary Screening and Q&A on June 20th at Will Rogers Museum in Claremore

The Will Rogers Memorial Museum will be celebrating Route 66 - also known as the Will Rogers Highway - with a screening of a documentary followed by a Q&A session with the subject of that documentary, Steve McAllister (who goes by the stage name of Steve McAlphabet.)

In 2001, Steve took a year and a half sabbatical and traveled the country, resulting in a book titled The Rucksack Letters. Since then, he has traveled extensively on his motorcycle with a simple guitar setup and a 1959 typewriter, upon which he writes poetry-on-demand. In 2022, McAllister rode his bike 10,500 miles through 24 states and Washington D.C. to explore the legacy of Will Rogers. Steve’s journey was captured in a self-produced documentary called The Road to Will.

On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, at 3:00 PM Steve will be in Claremore to share that experience with an audience at the Will Rogers Memorial Museum. The Museum will screen the documentary and McAllister will be on-hand for a question and answer period afterwards. The event is free to attend.
