Volunteer Opportunities

One of the main goals of the Oklahoma Route 66 Association is to ensure the road is around for generations to come. A big part of that goal involves working together throughout the state to maintain our landmarks, beautify spaces, and educate the traveling public about what makes the highway so special.

Below are several volunteer opportunities available either through the Association directly or with one of our Business Members. If you’re not a member, join us so that you know about new opportunities as soon as they come up!

Thank you for your support!

If you have a volunteer opportunity you would like listed on this page, fill out the form here.

  • Oklahoma Route 66 Association

Volunteer at our headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma! Greet travelers and process merchandise sales that help sustain our organization. Travel information is available here covering all 400+ miles of Oklahoma Route 66…and then some! We also need volunteers for events and preservation/cleanup projects.

  • Tulsa - Route 66 Historical Village

The Village staffs a replica Phillips 66 station where travelers can find more information about the attraction and other sights in the city of Tulsa. They also often field questions about things to see and do heading east and west on Historic Route 66.

    This need is ONGOING.

  • Sapulpa - Heart of Route 66 Auto Museum

The Museum Gift Shop needs Saturday (morning/afternoon) and Sunday afternoon volunteers to help check in visitors and run the register. Approx. four hours a week and you get to meet people from all over the country and the world.

Training is provided. “Most important is a kind, welcoming demeanor and the ability to learn how to run the register. That part is easy! No need to worry about whether someone knows about cars. Each car has a ‘storyboard’ that tells about it. Visitors ‘self-tour’ the museum.”

Contact Karen Campbell or Lina Holmes at (918) 216-1171 or email via their website.
